Get ready for a ton of pics. The first three are what my kitchen, dining room, and living room looked like when we first moved in. Ignore all of the mess, it was still the ladies stuff when I was going through taking pictures.

Here is what it looked like when we moved in and I changed paint and fixtures and decorations.

Now here is what it looks like with the newly painted cabinets and a fresh coat of paint...again.

Here is the saying that I put above my kitchen sink. I love how it turned out. For those of you who don't know what these wall sayings are, they are actually stickers that you put on the wall. They peel right off without ruining the paint or anything. They are really easy to put up on the walls too.

So there it is. Finally everything is finished! And I love how it turned out!

I went up to my mom's house despite the horrible weather that we are having here right now. It wasn't bad at all going up there other than the crazy wind. I LOVE going up to mom's house. I am definitely still a 'mama's girl'. And of course I had to bring my camera with.

Aunt KK and Piper
Mama and Piper
Little did I know that Mom and KK thought it was not fun to have their pics taken. How cute.
Take 2. At least this one turned out a little bit nicer. :)

And of course a pic of Miss Rosie Posie. I ADORE that smile of hers. I think I could take pics of her all day and not get sick of it. She is so cute!

I only stayed up at mom's for a couple hours and it was a very good thing I left when I did. It was horrible weather on my way home. I saw 6 accidents on my way home. No slide offs, just accidents that were minor. I ran into quite a few whiteouts too. So scary. A trip that normally takes me about 35 minutes took about an hour and a half. Not fun. At least we made it home safely.
At least I am all prepared for the next trip (if I ever dare to drive in snow...I'm a big chicken) I now have blankets, a jug of water and a nice big bottle of water, some fruit leathers, 3 fiber bars, and a few other non-perishable items of food. Better safe than sorry!

We made a trip to our a thrift shop near our house and I am sooo glad we did. We bought 2 books, a little ty beanie bear, a purple carebear that Piper would not let go of the entire time we were at the store, not even to let me pay for it, a barbie tea set, a towel holder for the main bathroom, a very ratty horse :(, the game Guestures, and my fav purchase? a very large tub of tinker toys. They are the plastic ones, but I thought it was too good a deal to pass up. Oh, and 2 bead necklaces for Ambry.
We got everything for $10.00! I thought it was a great deal. I probably could have bought more if the kids weren't ready to go home for lunch. I will have to go there again...maybe later! :) These deals make me miss garage sales so much but at least if you hit the day right at the thrift store, there are different parts of the store half off. Can't beat that.

Today Robyn, Tara, and Rhonda came over and we made a TON of candy. We made, raspberry fudge, peanut butter chocolate fudge, chocolate fudge, butterscotch fudge, chocolate caramel fudge, 6 different flavors of rock candy, oreo 'truffles', peppermint bark, peppermint patties, chocolate peanut butter patties, 'bullseyes'...I think that is all.
Oreo "Truffles"
Peppermint patties
Peanut Brittle. Robyn brought this along. She made it with her mom and enough for each one of us girls. It was a good thing too otherwise we would have probably been making candy for another couple hours instead of the 6 or so hours we had already spent on it all.
So that was my delicious Monday. Seriously, I think I felt my hips and bootie grow just by looking at all this yummy deliciousness! Oh well. I am still going to enjoy everything single bite!

Here is a before of my kitchen color that I had as an accent color. It was also on a wall in the hallway and I changed that to the cream color that is on all the other walls.
Here is the new color. I didn't take a pic from the kitchen of that wall because it is so horribly messy in there. Once I got everything up on the walls, I liked this color even more. I think it goes very well with my decorations and furniture.
So what do you think? Cool color or not?

As for my checklist of remaining things to do, it is finally beginning to dwindle. I have a couple more bags/small boxes to finish sorting, 5 remaining cabinets to hang, final touch up, and of course picking a color for the walls in the kitchen. I am thinking that I will go with a light taupe color but we'll have to wait and see what I can find in the mistint sections at Seven's or Sherwin Williams. I kind of overshot my budget by a smidge...so we'll have to see what we can find. :)

All right, I am having a HUGE painting dilemma. Here is what one coat of the light paint that is in my living room looks like next to the cupboards. I think I hate it...but I'm not sure. I just don't think it looks quite right since my countertops are a cream color and the paint is lighter than them. But I just don't know...please help. I have a taupe color that I liked also, but I'm not sure if it would go good with the cupboards. So please help me out on this one. I don't have a pic of the other color because I have run out of paint rollers. I would compare it to a caramel color maybe?

Ignore the hallway color. That is going to be the white/cream that is going on the kitchen walls. I really wanted to have one main floor color with an accent wall on the far wall opposite of the cabinets that connects the kitchen and living room. I picked a dark hershey brown for that wall. The caramel/taupe color would go well with that, I just don't know if it will go good with the cabinets and remaining trim. So please let me know what you think. :)

Here are a couple pics of the cabinets that are completely done. Yeah!!! I have just about filled them up again, but at least they are now organized and much easier to find things. I scrubbed down the sinks with soft scrub so they are so nice and shiny clean too. I can not start painting the walls and I can not wait to see what the finished product is going to look like.

(Ignore the one cabinet off of the lower cupboards. We still have about 5 to hang and that is one of them.) I never noticed before, but all of my smaller appliances, i.e. are black. I love how they seem to match the cabinets now.

Hopefully I will get a good start on the paint on the walls and will have a nearly finished pic to upload tomorrow. Off I go to get hyped up with coffee so I will have lots of energy to paint and finish cleaning. :)

I would seriously like to know the odds of a car hitting a deer twice in one year. Same car, same side of the car. I mean seriously! What are the odds?!? We were driving home tonight from some friends of ours--I was driving--and out of nowhere going down a very busy road, a deer comes out of nowhere and decides that it would like to see what it would feel like to run into our car. Thank God that no one was hurt! The only damage done to our car this time was that we don't have a driver side mirror anymore. It just popped the glass right out of the holder thing...whatever you call that thing. At least the holder is perfectly fine. The only other evidence of the deer is some hair stuck to the door handle.

So if anyone finds the odds of a deer accident happening twice to the same car in a one year span, I would love to know what it is. A very exciting end to a fun night out.

Oh, and Ambry's response to hitting the deer? "That naughty deer! It woke me up from sleeping." She was not very impressed with us hitting yet another deer. :)

Here is what the cupboards currently look like. I am so happy so far with how it is turning out. I will have to make a trip to the paint store later today to get some vinyl glue to glue down the overlapping portions of wallpaper and then I will be ready to start polyurethane on it. Yeah! I am so looking forward to being able to put everything back into my drawers and cupboards. Soon, oh so very soon.

I am hoping that I will be able to start painting the walls this weekend. I so badly want to see how it is going to look with my paint color. The orange will be replaced with a creamy neutral tan/white color. It is the same color that I have in my living room and hallway. I decided to go with that color to make it flow nicely. The wall that runs along the kitchen and living room will be repainted a dark brown color. Kind of a hershey chocolate color. I'm not too sure what I will think of that color--it was a can of mistint paint from Seven's so it was only six dollars so I figured if I didn't like it, at least it didn't cost a small fortune. :)

I'll add more pictures as the kitchen progresses through the weekend. Hopefully by next week I will have it back in full use again. Hopefully...

So I don't have a picture of the cabinets right now because our main computer isn't working right now and I am using the laptop. For some reason I can't get the internet to connect. Very strange. Anyway, I have made some more headway on the cabinets. They are now completely painted on the inside and the outside. The cabinet doors still need one more touch up coat of paint. I have about a quarter of the wallpaper done on the shelves and it looks AWESOME! I really like the print that I picked out. If I ever get Piper to sleep--it is 10:30 right now--I am going to try and get a couple more of the shelves wallpapered.

And speaking of Piper, she has something called entero-virus. Poor baby. She has really nasty cold and cough on top of that and is pretty miserable right now. She is still such a happy little girl though. Although right now I think she's so happy because her daddy is home from basketball. She is such a daddy's girl when Caleb gets home. So cute.

Well, hopefully I will have pics of the kitchen and the progress that I have made so far. ttyl.

Wordless Wednesday

Anyone want to venture a guess as to what Ambry put in her hair? I took this picture in the bathroom but she was watching tv when she did it. Go ahead and try to guess what it is. I'll give you a hint. It smelled up my whole room like coconut and verbenna.

So it has been forever since I have said what I have been up to but in my defense I have been keeping quite busy. There was Thanksgiving and the many places we like to go. Basically our whole weekend we like to spend with family, which means many trips to many places.

But my biggest busiest project that I have begun is my kitchen. I am redoing everything. Painting the cabinets, painting the walls, the whole thing. I am painting my cabinets black and then will be putting a fairly high sheen of polyurethane on top of that to protect and to add some extra shine. I am also painting the inside of the cabinets because I don't like to open the cupboards only to have the inside not finished. On the shelves I am putting down black and white wallpaper so that I don't have to be too careful when sliding dishes in and out of them. Less scratches and fixing up hopefully.

As of right now, Caleb has the cabinet doors sanded and I have the first coat of paint applied. The insides are completely done being painted. I am waiting for the wallpaper to arrive and then everything will get a coat of polyurethane. Everything I go in my kitchen I wonder if I bit off more than I could chew but there is no turning back now! I think today I am going to try and get the first coat of paint on the walls and spray paint the hinges and get a coat on the front side of the cabinet doors. Hopefully...

Here is what they look like so far. Please ignore the mess. It is so hard keeping everything clean when you can't put anything in cabinets.
