The awesome beauty and power of God. This storm moved into the skies in a matter of minutes. It was unbelievable how fast everything went from being sunny to stormy skies so quickly.

Oh the joy of CVS...

Piper got stung by a bee last night for the first time and of course I went into full blown panic attack. I only had Benadryl topic ointment in the house and Piper's bee sting was just under her eye brow. I didn't want to put it that close to the eye. Poor thing...her eye swelled up until it was about half shut. We put a cold popsicle on it instead in between bites for her. :)

So what do I do after that? Make a trip to CVS in order to get Benadryl in the house. I lucked out and they had a great deal going on with it too!

Here is what I got:

  1. 3 dye free liquid Benadryl's $5.00 a piece
  2. 1 dye free adult Benadryl $5.00
  3. 1 Christophe shampoo on sale B1G1 @ $7.99
  4. 1 Christophe conditioner
  5. 1 Revlon bronzing blush $9.99
  6. 2 M & M dark chocolate with peanuts $2.50 a piece
  7. 2 Hershey bags $2.50 a piece
  8. 1 Colgate toothpaste $1.77
  9. 1 Colgate toothbrush $1.77
  10. 1 Bandaid ultra strips $2.99

Total before coupons and tax was $62.50. I had $31.00 in coupons! $9.00 of that was from the $3.00/$15.00 expired CVS coupon. I thought I would try it and see if they would take it and they ended up taking 3 of them! Woot! I then used $21.99 of ECB's, paid $1.52 in cash, and got back $26.99 in ECB's! What a good trip! And I got stuff that I really needed in the house.

Definitely can't beat the deals at CVS!

Like Piper's face in the side of the pic? I opened the bag of M & M's for Caleb to try since they had no milk in them and she kept sneaking up there to sample a "few" for herself. :)

The girls and I went to Target last night and saw this fun water sprayer on clearance. Piper absolutely loves it! Ambry was such a good sport and let Piper completely soak her.

I had some trouble getting close enough to Piper to get a good picture. Everytime I tried, she would whip around and try to get me with the sprayer. :)

Just a quick pic. Thought this was a funny pic of Piper. We bought her a "new to us" seat last week and she LOVES it! This was from the first day that we showed it to her. She is eating her snack in it because she didn't even want to be unbuckled. :)

Since we have put it in the car, she has been content to just sit instead of always trying to get out of her seat. Very nice for a change. And she has yet to figure out how to unbuckle it, which is even better. :)

CVS, how I love you!

Here is what I got in yet another trip this week:

  1. 3 nail polishes Please excuse the colors. Ambry was with me and those are the ones she picked out. Quite colorful, to say the least. On sale for $.99 each
  2. Hubba Bubba gum, again courtesy of Ambry $.99
  3. 2 Pantene Pro-V shampoo marked down from $6.19 to $.61 !!!
  4. 2 Pantene Pro-V conditioner marked down from $6.19 to $.61 !!!
  5. 1 CVS cleansing facial wipes for $2.99
  6. 1 24/7 men's deoderant on sale for $3.99
  7. 1 water...again, for Ambry $1.19 This is what happens when I bring her with me to places. I should know by know that she is either going to die from hunger or perish from thirst and remember to bring these things with me!
  8. 1 4x6 photo book on sale for $3.99
  9. 1 6x8 photo book on sale for $7.99

Came to $48.97 worth of stuff(before clearance prices). I had $12.50 in coupons, used $13.00 in ECB's, paid $1.34 in cash, and got back $14.98 in ECB's. Seriously, have I mentioned that I LOVE CVS?!?

I could have split this transaction up and done even better, but I wasn't taking any chances on Ambry dying from hunger. I just know she would have spotted those peanut M&M's if we would have been there for a minute longer. Poor child...she is just wasting away. :)

If you have not become addicted to shopping at CVS yet, or would like to become addicted to shopping at CVS, please do not hesitate to shoot me an email with questions. I highly recommend it to all those who either like to have lots of fun items, like to save money, or just like to find some great bargains. Also, it is very good at fixing those "need to spend some money" urges. Or maybe I'm the only one who gets those. :)

I saw this on Rocks in My Dryer and thought I would post it on here also.

If I had Miss S. watch my 2 children and my 2 daycare kids, I should be paying her $13.50 an hour according to this site! Oh my!!! I would never be able to go anywhere...ever! Thank you so much Miss S. for not charging me more!

Babysitters are also part of inflation...a big part apparently. :)

Check it out and see how much you should be paying.

A Saturday afternoon trip to the zoo with Uncle Gerrit and soon-to-be Aunt Jen.
Piper trying to pet the goat.

Gerrit with his "new pet". You might think I'm joking but he seriously wants on of these pygmy goats.

Jen and Piper with the pygmy goats. These little guys are probably our favorite things to watch and pet. They are so little and just the right size for the girls. I suppose if Gerrit and Jen really get one, I know where we will be going to get our "pet fix".

And a pic of the girls and me. I have really been trying to get more pics of Caleb and me with the girls. I have so many individual pics but not a whole lot of pics with all of us.

Can you tell we are definitely getting some use out of our zoo membership? We have even gotten Piper to recognize some of the animals. Not everything is "do-do" anymore. My 2 favorite ones that she says are, "mon-ey" for monkey and "yion" for lion.

Happy Monday!

Just a side note...this is post 200! Woot! Who would have thought I would actually stick to something this long? Certainly not I!

UPDATE:

So to recap today...Piper had her right elbow pop out of socket again, her fingers on her right hand slammed in the door (she let me tape her ring finger and pinkie together in the hopes of making them feel better so she wouldn't accidentally move them too much--they are quite swollen) and now has a bump on the right side of her head from hitting it on the coffee table.

Seriously, this child needs to be in a bubble today in the hopes of preventing more injuries! She is finally laying down and taking a nap with Caleb. At least she is safe doing that...I hope.

Here is our trip to CVS and Rite Aid this week (and some from Saturday's visit...couldn't pass up some of the deals. ).

Here is what I got from Rite Aid this week:

  1. 1 Crest Natural Expressions for $2.49
  2. 1 ob tampons for $2.99
  3. 1 Electrasol gel tabs for $2.99

I paid $5.73 and will get $5.49 back in rebates. That will mean $.24 in cash spent then. Woot!

On Saturday at CVS, I got:

  1. 2 Olay Ribbons body wash @ $5.99
  2. 2 Olay Botanicals body wash @ $5.99
  3. 1 bag of M & M's for the girls in the store $.50
  4. 1 Physicians Formula bronzer on clearance from $12.99 to $1.29!
  5. 1 CVS extra strenth lotion @ $1.49

Came to $27.24 of stuff, used $15.00 in coupons, $12.00 in ECB's and paid $.76 in cash. I got back $10.00 in ECB's. Lost $2.00 in ECB's but I didn't mind. I LOVE having body wash in the house. That is usually considered a luxury for us. :)

Then for this week at CVS, I did 3 different transactions to make the most of my coupons:

  1. Charmin @ $5.49
  2. 6 Sally nail polish @ $.99 each
  3. 4 Evian @ B1G1 $1.89 a piece
  4. 3 Mentos @ $.79 (needed a filler)
  5. Maalox liquid @ $5.49
  6. Maalox chewables @ $6.49
  7. Excedrin 100 ct. @ $10.29
  8. Neutragena mascara @ $5.99
  9. 2 Sure deoderant @ $2.69 each
  10. CVS cloth makeup removers

That amounts to $58.09 worth of stuff, used $33.44, used $16.49 in ECB's, and I paid $2.95 in cash. I got back $18.00 in ECB's. Not bad considering that I needed toilet paper and there were no ECB's given back on them.

Hopefully the rest of today will be accident free. Piper has already been to the urgent care center this morning to put her elbow back in socket. This is the second time she has had it pop out of socket within a months time. Then when we got home she got her fingers slammed in the door. The wind was really strong today and whipped the door close before I could grab it. Poor honey. So hopefully she won't have any more accidents today...

Fourth of July...a little late, but here are some highlights of our day.

The girls and I were in the G-ville parade. We walked for an agent from State Farm. It was just under a 2 mile stretch and by the end, everyone was a little tired and cranky. It started at about 11:00 although we had to be there are 9:45 and we didn't get home until after 1:00. A very loooong day.

There was an unbelievable amount of people at that parade. There is even a new law that went into effect for the city that hosts the parade saying that no one can set up their blankets and chairs any earlier than 6 am the morning of the parade or the police will confiscate their items. Crazy, right? The whole length of the parade on both sides of the road were at least 20 people deep. Kids were allowed by parents to stand out in the second lane of the road (it is a 4 lane road with a 5th row in the middle for turning) and we only had the very middle of the road to walk. We had to stop several times and get people to move back so we could safely move through. I have never seen anything like it. There were some kids that wouldn't move so we didn't give them any candy. I can not believe that parents would let their children go that far out in the road-yes, I know it is a parade-but there are quite a few large floats and semi trucks in that parade that can't stop on a dime, let alone see little kids who are running around. There were quite a few policemen on bikes, but there were just way too many people... I didn't hear of anyone getting hurt, and maybe I just worry too much. :)

Despite the girls faces below, they had a blast. Ambry had so much fun throwing the candy and Piper even got in on the action a little bit. Ambry walked almost the whole thing while Piper sat in the wagon (I pulled her along). For the last 1/4 mile, Ambry rode in the back of the Jeep and Piper actually got out of the wagon and walked. We had about 15,000 pieces of candy and ran out before the the last 1/2 mile if that gives you an idea of how many people were there.

Here is Gerrit driving the Jeep. Kind of a dark pic, but I thought that little Jeep was so cool. They put all the candy in the back and then as we threw it, some of the smaller kids were allowed to sit in the back.

Later in the day, Jordan took the girls for rides on his quad. Can you tell they loved it? And before you think we are unsafe parents, they both did not ride on it at the same time. I set Piper on there to take the pic and that was it. :)
All of us did sparklers at night. No big firework show for us. :( I'm hoping for next year though. I did lay some blankets out on the deck and Ambry and I were able to see some fireworks just over the tree tops. Definitely a good ending to a long day.

Hope everyone else had a great Fourth of July!

Wordless Wednesday
Definitely not the best pic ever--quite a bit on the blurry side, but I couldn't resist taking it. I noticed Piper playing with her belly button a lot and went over to inspect. This is what I found. A clearance sticker from Target. Hehehe!
Anyone else ever find strange items in their children's belly buttons?

Whew!!! Talk about a very, VERY, VERY crazy weekend! Saturday brought 2 bridal showers--one for Jen's family in the morning and another for her friends at night. I put both of them on for her with some very much appreciated help from her mom and then my mom at night. I got a little bit of a break in the afternoon in the way of laying out by the pool with Jen.

The morning shower (there were about 18 people there and went from 10:30 until 12:30) went fairly smooth...although we did have a chair breaking incident. :) I can laugh about it now...although I was mortified when it happened. I had just started out by introducing myself and Jen's Grandma got out the words, "And I am Jen's..." when IT happened. Jen's aunt's chair completely collapsed from underneath her. Broken pieces of plastic went flying every which way. (By the way, this is my favorite layout chair so I know it is pretty sturdy.) I just must have set it up wrong. Needless to say, everyone was very quiet for a few minutes. Oh the embarassment. The aunt handled it very well and just laughed it off and moved to another chair and the shower moved on.

The night shower (there were about 23 people there) with Jen's friend's went very well. It was very laid back and lasted from about 7:30 to 10:00 or so. Not too much to say about the night shower. Just lots of fun had by all. I think it was one of the funner showers I have been too. Very laid back and just so relaxing. Or at least as relaxing as it is going to get when you are the one throwing the shower. :)

Sunday brought another fairly busy day. Jordan's girlfriend Danielle turned 18 and he wanted to do a small get together at our house. This was all set up on Saturday night since Jordan is so good at giving advance notice. :) So...we had Gerrit, our family, and Jeff and mom and the girls all there, and Kaylynn and her boyfriend Jordan over to grill out. THANKS!!! Jeff and Mom for bringing all of the food. That was a gigantic help. Anyway, after all the gifts and cake and all birthday related fun, it was about 4:00 before everyone started to leave.

Next brought my Grandma Gritters birthday party at night. We headed to that at about 8:00 which is when their church gets done. They had it at the social hall at church which is luckily just a couple of miles down the road from us. We got home at about 10:00 from that and everyone pretty much collapsed into bed.

The girls after eating their cake. Just a little messy. :)

So yesterday and today I have done nothing but try to recover and relax, hence no posts on the blog for a couple of days. I hope my 2 loyal readers can forgive me. :) Well, it is off to the pool I go to lay out for a couple of hours. Toby and Ambry will get to go swimming and I plan on laying there and doing...well...nothing. Sigh. How nice.

Happy Tuesday!
